Regional Director, Safety, Operations and Infrastructure
As aeronautical engineer and business school graduate Achim Baumann started his working career in 1986 as officer in the German Air force before he took the place of Deputy Director at Quality Management Certification Organization in 1995. In 1997 Achim joined the consultancy arm of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung (German Air Navigation Services) and worked on several international projects before being posted as quality and interface manager at the New Athens International Airport. After finishing this appointment in 2001 Achim headed as senior consultant international projects and programs dealing with all areas of ATM. He worked with the aviation industry as well as with governments, the European Commission or international organisation. Furthermore, he successfully represented DFS as Regional Manager for more than six years in Middle East where he worked with ANSPs, regulators, airports, airlines and organizations like CANSO. This work finally brought him to join IATA as Director Safety, Operations and Infrastructure, MENA in July 2011. Within the IATA MENA he expanded his area of interest and works closely together with the airlines, governments, international organisations like ICAO as well as airports, ANSPs and the Military to support and improve all aspects of aviation.
