Director, Future Projects & Technology

Carl has over 34 years’ service in the Aerospace, Defence and Advanced Technology sectors. Initially specialising in the fields of electro-magnetics, electronic warfare and massive computational analysis, he has held senior positions in British Aerospace, Sundstrand, Royal Ordnance and BAE Systems.

Carl was responsible for the formation and leadership of BAE Systems corporate Advanced Technology Centre, and was appointed Managing Director of the MOD/industry NITEworks synthetic environments partnership between UK Ministry of Defence and industry, providing decision support to enhance UK military capability. In addition Carl has been responsible for a number of site and business operations roles at Great Baddow, Towcester and Chadderton and until recently, he ran the high value engineering test & evaluation facilities business for BAE System’s Military Aircraft & Information (MAI), including its wind tunnels, flight simulation, structural test, synthetic environments &modelling facilities, amongst others.

He has undertaken BAE Systems’ prestigious global Strategic Leaders Programme, meeting senior political, industry, military, and religious leaders in USA, India, China and the conflict zones of the former Yugoslavia. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Physics and the Royal Aeronautical Society and currently BAE Systems MAI Director of Future Projects and Technology. Carl sits on the Technology Strategy Board for BAE Systems plc, is the current Chairman of the steering board for the UK Industrial Avionics Working Group (IAWG) and a director of Aircraft Research Association Ltd., in Bedford.Carl has over 34 years’ service in the Aerospace, Defence and Advanced Technology sectors.
