SVP, Flight Operations
Captain Rick Allen is responsible for Etihad’s compliance with all relevant statutory regulations and requirements of the GeneralCivil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and all other foreign regulatory authorities. As the post holder for the airline’s operating certificate, he is responsible for the highest overall safe operation of the airline. The responsibilities include Flight Operations, Guest Services, Training, Standards, Crew Resources and Operation Logistics.
Rick joined Etihad Airways in April of 2014 as the SVP Operations. His previous position was Managing Director-Flight Operations with Air Canada. He was with Air Canada for 28 years and had a proven record in managing corporate mandates, negotiations and change management.
He has over 35 years in the industry and graduated during the spring of 1979 from Selkirk College in Aviation Technology. Rick also has an Air Traffic Controller license endorsed for the Toronto Terminal Facility which he obtained in 1994. Hestarted his career flying float planes in Northern Canada and since then he has had the opportunity to fly numerous aircraft types around the world. His most notable aircraft flown was the distinguished DC-3. He currently flies the Boeing 777 for Etihad.
